Are you a member of your local electric cooperative? If so, you're invited to participate in the South Carolina Electric Cooperative Empowerment Program (SCECEP), which is a series of community engagement events that educate community leaders on how they can serve on the Board of Trustees of their local electric cooperative.

Join us in Orangeburg, SC on Wednesday, September 4 for this SCECEP workshop! Join us and Orangeburg community partners:

  • Faith Group 4 Action Ministers
  • New Mt. Zion Baptist Church
  • New America Corporation


This workshop will cover:

  • How electric cooperatives serve and operate in their communities
  • The role of the Board of Trustees on electric cooperatives
  • How attendees can run for election on their local electric cooperative's Board of Trustees


DID YOU KNOW?

  • Your local electric cooperative sets utility rates that impact your monthly power bill.
  • The Board of Trustees of electric cooperatives are locally elected and paid positions.
  • Most Electric Cooperative Boards in South Carolina are not diverse.


A catered dinner will be served!


DOOR PRIZES *must be resident of South Carolina to be eligible*

Three attendees will be chosen at random to receive one of the door prizes below. One of each of the door prizes will be awarded at each session. ​​
